BIO

Composer, producer and guitarist graduated in film music from UCLA. While living in the USA, he obtained scholarships at various universities including Berklee College of Music, UCLA, and Jacksonville. Rodrigo was chosen from among thousands of composers worldwide to join the Los Angeles Composers Society (SCL), as part of the prestigious SCL Mentor Program in 2008.

 

Thanks to this distinction, he had the opportunity to assist great composers and producers such as Alf Clausen, Cristopher Young and Jeff Weber, for recording sessions of the renowned TV show The Simpsons and other experiences in studio for television in California. Finalist in the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest and nominated for the 2009 Independent Music Awards - in the Jazz category - for his song "Innovation", which belongs to the album of the same name. Winner of the Premios Escena - the highest award of the Panamanian theater - for the music composed for the stage adaptation of the novel El Ahogado (2014), one of the most important literature classics in Panama, written by the Bocatoreño novelist and poet Tristán Solarte.

 

Musical director of national TV shows such as Cantando por un Sueño and Pequeños Gigantes. Within the Panamanian rock movement, his contributions have also been notorious in recent years. Among them, it is worth mentioning his outstanding collaborations on some albums by singer-songwriter Carlos Méndez, such as Mar (2013) and Ayayay (2018). As well as his work in the production and composition of the popular album Natural (2015), with his band Pepe Bahía. In 2019, Rodrigo becomes the founder of www.musiclabpanama.com and remains active as a composer and producer of film music. In 2020 he composed music for the films Dias de Luz, Algo Azul, Wigudun, Monologues al Escabeche, El Tuerto es Rey (5 episodes of online mini-series) and many more. He remains active recording guitars and as an arranger on several national albums and singles of 2020.
